Key Points 

  • Round to the place value requested (e.g. nearest 10, nearest tenth).

  • Look at the digit to the right of the rounding digit.

  • If it is 5 or more, round up.

  • If it is 4 or less, round down.

  • Replace any following digits with zeros (for whole numbers) or remove them (for decimals).
