Key Points 

  • Quartiles divide ordered data into four equal parts.

  • Lower quartile (Q1) is the 25th percentile.

  • Median (Q2) is the 50th percentile.

  • Upper quartile (Q3) is the 75th percentile.

  • Interquartile range (IQR) = Q3 − Q1.

  • The IQR measures the spread of the middle 50% of the data.
